Product Description:
The S20-INC-2 Special Function Module is designed for high speed signal acquisition. It supports incremental encoders with symmetrical or asymmetrical signals. This module allows accurate position and speed detection in automation applications. The data transmission is achieved via a local bus at 100 Mbit/s.
The Bosch S20-INC-2 function module connects through a bus base module and communicates at 100 Mbit/s. It operates on a 5 V DC supply from the bus base with typical current consumption of 100 mA and maximum 120 mA. The power consumption at this level is 0.5 W typically and 0.6 W at most. The I/O supply supports 24 V DC input with a permissible voltage range of 19.2 V to 30 V DC. It consumes a typical current of 50.5 mA and can draw up to 2.5 A based on sensor or encoder load. The maximum power consumption from the I/O supply is 60 W including 1.6 W internal losses. The surge protection is electronic at 35 V for 0.5 s. The polarity reversal is protected by a parallel diode with a 5 A external fuse during startup. The maximum protection current is rated at 8 A with reversal protection limited to 5 A. The module includes two incremental encoder inputs and supports both symmetrical and asymmetrical encoder signals. It accommodates cable lengths up to 30 meters.
The symmetrical encoder inputs of the S20-INC-2 function module are configured as differential signals with ~ 0.5 V minimum and ~ 6 V maximum. The input frequency reaches up to 300 kHz with a 5 V DC encoder supply. The common mode voltage ranges from -10 V to 13.2 V. The asymmetrical encoders are supported with signal voltage thresholds below 2.5 V for low and above 3.5 V for high.
Frequently Asked Questions about S20-INC-2:
Q: Can the S20-INC-2 handle high-frequency signals without distortion?
A: Yes, the Bosch S20-INC-2 supports input frequencies up to 300 kHz for fast and accurate signal detection. It ensures stable performance at 5 V DC encoder supply.
Q: Does the S20-INC-2 maintain reliable data transfer in demanding environments?
A: Yes, it transmits data via a 100 Mbit per second local bus for real-time communication. The bus base module ensures low-latency operation and efficient integration.
Q: How does the Bosch S20-INC-2 manage power consumption under full load?
A: It consumes up to 0.6 W from the 5 V DC bus and draws a maximum of 2.5 A from the 24 V DC I/O supply. Total I/O power consumption reaches 60 W including internal losses.
Q: Is the S20-INC-2 protected against incorrect voltage connection during startup?
A: Yes, polarity reversal protection is enabled through a parallel diode with a 5 A external fuse. Surge protection is also active at 35 V for 0.5 seconds.
Q: Can the Bosch S20-INC-2 support long encoder cable installations?
A: Yes, it allows cable lengths up to 30 meters without signal degradation. It supports both symmetrical and asymmetrical encoder signals using differential or threshold-based detection.
