Product Description:
The S20-EIP-BK is a bus coupler module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the S20 IndraControl Modules series. It serves as the head station of an S20 slice I/O node, linking the local backplane to an EtherNet/IP control network so that distributed sensors and actuators can be addressed directly by a PLC. By translating protocol frames between the fieldbus and the slice bus, the module enables real-time data exchange for coordinated motion, sequencing, and safety tasks in automated machinery.
The coupler communicates over EtherNet/IP and forwards the resulting process data across the S20 backplane at 100 Mbps, sustaining deterministic cycle times even when a node is expanded to 63 devices. Logic electronics on the slice bus operate from an internal 5 V DC rail derived from the main supply. The supply terminals accept 24 V DC, and operation remains stable with a line ripple of ±5%, allowing the unit to share power with drives, sensors, and indicator stacks connected to the same control voltage. Tool-free push-in contacts reduce installation time and maintain low-resistance connections that resist vibration in packaging, material-handling, and assembly lines. This connection method also eliminates the need to tighten terminal screws when wiring the module.
The enclosure has an IP20 ingress protection rating, making it suitable for enclosed control panels where basic touch protection is required. Each push-in terminal can conduct up to 8 A, permitting high-current digital outputs or auxiliary power loops to be routed through the station without external distribution blocks. A width of 45 mm, a depth of 74 mm, and a height of 126.1 mm keep the footprint small, leaving DIN-rail space for additional slices, fuses, and surge protectors. The unit belongs to overvoltage category II and protection class III, aligning its insulation coordination with the low-voltage control circuits commonly used in factory automation.
