Product Description:
The S20-DO-8/2-2A is a digital output module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the S20 IndraControl Modules series. It occupies one slice in an S20 remote I/O station and converts controller commands from the local bus into switched load lines for field actuators. Compatible loads include contactors, solenoids, indicator lamps, and other devices commonly used in industrial automation. Its 12.2 mm-wide housing conserves DIN rail space and allows output capacity to be installed close to the machine process. This distributed arrangement can shorten field wiring between the control cabinet and connected equipment.
Each channel can continuously source up to 2 A, while the aggregate current load capacity of the module is 8 A. The field circuits receive power from a dedicated 24 V DC I/O supply, keeping load power separate from the module’s logic power. Internal electronics receive regulated 5 V DC power through the local bus. Communication with the station coupler occurs over a proprietary backplane operating at 100 Mbps, which supports timely output updates when several modules are connected to the station. Per-channel drivers latch the output states and monitor short circuits. Diagnostic information is then transmitted to the controller through the local bus without requiring separate diagnostic wiring.
Field conductors connect through the push-in front terminals, which allow wires to be inserted without screw clamps. The terminal arrangement uses a two-conductor layout that provides the signal and common connections needed for straightforward field loops. The module provides 8 digital outputs that switch the supplied field voltage directly, eliminating the need for interposing relays when connected loads remain within the channel ratings. Mechanical keying aligns the module with adjacent slices and helps prevent insertion into an incompatible position. Front-mounted LED indicators display the state of each channel, allowing operating conditions to be checked directly at the remote I/O station. The narrow enclosure also leaves access to the terminals and indicators after neighboring S20 modules are installed.
