Product Description:

The S20-DO-32/1 is a digital module developed by Indramat Rexroth with 32 digital outputs using push-in 1-wire connection technology. It features automatic restart after overload shutdown and possess a minimum load impedance of 10 k?. This module supports ohmic loads up to 12 W at 48 ? and it includes an electronic overload as well as short-circuit protection.

The S20-DO-32/1 controller provides a nominal output voltage of 24 V DC and 500 mA of peak current at the output terminals. The total device output current is 8 A and it uses an external fuse to ensure proper protection. The S20 controller's inductive loads can reach 12 VA at 1.2 H and for lamp loads, the maximum support is 12 W. The output switching frequency for ohmic loads is 5500 Hz and when outputs are switched off, the voltage is below 1 V. It has a signal delay of 150 us ON and 200 us OFF. Reverse voltage protection is available up to 0.5 A for 1 second and its internal power loss is 1.5 W under full load. The S20 controller performs communication via a local bus with a speed of 100 Mbit/s and the bus voltage is 5 VDC with a current draw of 120 mA. Its parameterization and configuration require 1 Byte and 6 Bytes respectively. The module's protection class is

and it can be mounted in any position.

The S20-DO-32/1 controller utilizes up to 240 W power and it includes diagnostic feature for indicating each output through its red and yellow LED lights. Its humidity support ranges from 5% to 95% non-condensing and it tolerates air pressure between 70 kPa to 106 kPa. The S20 controller weighs 191g combined with all the attached components and it dimensional measure is 53.6 x 126.1 x 54 mm (W x H x D).

Frequently Asked Questions about S20-DO-32/1:

Q: How does the push-in 1-wire technology benefit S20-DO-32/1 installations?

A: Push-in 1-wire tech simplifies wiring and reduces installation time. It ensures secure, vibration-resistant connections critical in industrial environments.

Q: Why is a 10 k? minimum load impedance required for S20-DO-32/1?

A: This prevents output signal distortion and protects the circuitry by maintaining a safe current draw threshold during low-load conditions.

Q: What role does the external fuse play in the S20-DO-32/1 system?

A: The external fuse adds an extra safety layer by protecting the module from external faults. It ensures overloads don't propagate back into the controller system.

Q: How does short-circuit protection in S20-DO-32/1 prevent damage?

A: It immediately disables affected outputs during faults, avoiding overheating or permanent module damage. This ensures longevity and safe operations in dense setups.

Q: Why is a switching frequency of 5500 Hz beneficial in S20-DO-32/1?

A: It allows rapid state changes, ideal for time-sensitive digital control systems. This helps in achieving higher accuracy in automation tasks.
