Product Description:
The S20-AO-8 analog output module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the S20 IndraControl Modules series. Designed for decentralized I/O stations, the module converts digital process data from a PLC into eight individually isolated voltage or current signals for actuators or drives on the machine. By matching the data format of the series local bus, the module reduces field wiring length and simplifies the expansion of existing IndraControl systems. Its eight outputs allow multiple analog devices to be connected through a compact module in the control cabinet.
For signal integrity, the outputs use shielded twisted-pair cables, and field conductors terminate in tool-free push-in connections with spring cages. The commoning contacts inside the housing support up to 8 A. Protection against accidental contact and dust ingress is rated at IP20, so the module is intended for installation inside a cabinet. Internal communication with the S20 backplane is supplied through the local bus, which operates at 5 V DC. If communication through this bus is interrupted, the module retains the most recent process data by activating the “hold last value” setting. The I/O supply for the analog stages is designated UA, and the field cable shield can be connected on one side to functional earth through the integrated FE jump point.
The module uses DIN rail mounting, allowing it to clip directly beside digital and safety modules of the same width. Its circuit follows the PELV concept, so the secondary electronics are separated from hazardous mains voltage while remaining referenced to protective earth. All eight channels are energized simultaneously during normal operation. If the UA supply is lost, the module provides 0 V/0 mA at its outputs to help prevent unintended actuator motion. The front identification area is colored zinc yellow, distinguishing the analog module from gray digital modules. This color coding allows the module type to be recognized quickly when inspecting an installed S20 station or tracing connected field wiring.
