Product Description:
The S20-AO-4 is an analog output module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the S20 IndraControl Modules series. The unit is installed on the S20 remote I/O backplane. It converts internal control data into standardized voltage or current signals for actuators, positioners, and process indicators in industrial automation systems.
The electronics operate from a field supply of 24 V DC, and this supply permits ripple of up to ±5%. Local bus communication with the station coupler operates at 100 Mbps, while the protocol circuits use an internal logic supply of 5 V DC. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating and is intended for installation inside a suitable control cabinet. Overvoltage Category II permits use on mains-derived circuits with basic insulation, while Protection Class III indicates operation from a safety extra-low-voltage supply. The final substitute output can be configured as 10 V, 5 V, or 20 mA. The zero substitute output can be set to 0 V, 0 mA, or 4 mA. A local bus failure produces an output of 0 V or 0 mA, depending on the selected operating mode. A field supply failure also produces an output of 0 V or 0 mA.
The module is rated for bump endurance of 10 g, shock resistance of 30 g, and vibration resistance of 5 g. These ratings support operation in industrial equipment exposed to movement, repeated mechanical loading, and vibration during normal machine duty. During a brief communication interruption, Substitute Hold Mode retains the most recently transmitted output through the Hold Last Value setting. This behavior helps prevent sudden changes in an actuator command while the local bus attempts to restore communication. If communication remains unavailable after the hold period, the configured substitute behavior takes control of the affected output channel. The predictable transition allows the control system to place connected equipment in its selected fallback state rather than leaving the analog output at an uncertain level.
