Product Description:
The S20-AI-8-UTH is an analog input module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the S20 IndraControl Modules series. Installed in an S20 remote I/O station, it digitizes low-level signals from temperature probes so a PLC can monitor and regulate thermal variables in automated equipment. By converting sensor voltages into process data on the local bus, the unit provides a compact means of integrating multiple thermocouple channels into motion controllers, packaging lines, and other industrial automation equipment.
The module has a contact rating of 8 A, matching common miniature circuit breaker limits in 24 V control cabinets. Internal circuitry is powered from the local backplane at 5 V DC, so no external supply is needed for the measurement electronics. The housing has a depth of 54 mm, a width of 53.6 mm, and a height of 126.1 mm. These compact dimensions allow high-density mounting on DIN rails without obstructing adjacent modules. The narrow profile also shortens thermocouple lead length, helping to reduce electrical noise. The Type 2 plastic housing provides basic ingress protection for light industrial environments, and the shield termination point routes transient energy to ground to preserve accuracy when long sensor cables are used.
Cable wiring is completed through a push-in connection block that accepts conductors fitted with ferrules without requiring tools, reducing installation time and minimizing contact resistance. The module is factory calibrated for thermocouple sensors and expects field wiring to use a shielded twisted pair to maintain signal integrity over long distances. Each of the eight channels accepts an analog input, providing access to eight independent temperature readings while occupying only one terminal field on the base carrier. The one-piece housing aligns automatically with the station ground tab. The module’s channel arrangement allows several temperature points to be monitored from one compact position in the remote I/O station.
