The S20-AI-8-RTD is a high-precision analog input module. It is used for temperature measurement using resistance temperature detectors (RTDs). It features eight analog input channels. Each of these input channels is capable of measuring accurate thermal information with a 3-wire RTD measurement principle.

The configuration compensates for lead resistance and enables accurate measurement. This module supports various types of RTD sensors. It includes Pt100, Pt1000, Ni100, and Ni1000. These are used in various applications of temperature measurements in process control. Each of the input channels supports measurement of temperature from -200°C to +850°C. It has accurate limits based on the type of RTD used. The wide range supports extreme hot or cold environments. It includes cold storage, manufacturing ovens, and climate rooms. The module input resistance is 10 MΩ, which does not allow the connected RTD sensors to draw current, ensuring signal integrity and extending life of the sensors. Power to the module comes from the S20 station bus, reducing wiring and integration through the avoidance of external power terminals. The design not only simplifies panel complexity but also facilitates easy expansion in distributed systems. Galvanic isolation is provided between each of the input channels and the bus, which enhances the system reliability by eliminating ground loops and electrical interference.
