Product Description:
The S20-AI-4-I module is an analog input slice manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the S20 IndraControl Modules series. Installed in a distributed I/O station, it digitizes loop signals from process transmitters and forwards the values to the PLC through the series backplane. Its circuitry is optimized for sensor lines that carry a standard industrial current, and the slim housing clips directly onto a DIN rail so several modules can share power and communication in a confined cabinet segment. This arrangement allows centralized monitoring of flow, pressure, or position without adding separate signal conditioners.
Beneath the front cover, the module offers 4 galvanically isolated channels that accept a current input range of 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA after parameterization. Each channel is converted by a sigma-delta ADC with a sampling period of 31.25 µs, capturing fast transients from dynamic processes. The slice refreshes its process image every 160 µs, so the controller can react to quickly changing signals. A built-in low-pass stage limits the bandwidth to 30 Hz, while the digital core returns a 16-sample moving average that smooths residual noise yet preserves control accuracy.
The electronic stack communicates with the head station across a backplane running at 100 Mbps, while its logic remains powered by a 5 V DC local rail. External power is supplied to the slice at 24 V DC; voltage stability is maintained when ripple remains within ±5 %. Field wiring is connected to push-in spring terminals that accept conductors up to 1.5 mm², and each terminal can carry as much as 8 A. The molded enclosure spans 35 mm in width and rises 7.5 mm above the DIN rail, conserving panel depth. With a protection classification of IP20, the module is intended for installation inside closed electrical cabinets.
