Product Description:
The RZW03.1-110-060 is a braking resistor module built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. During regenerative deceleration, the component converts surplus kinetic energy from a servo or inverter drive into heat, preventing DC-bus overvoltage and protecting power semiconductors. Designed for mounting inside control cabinets or sheltered machine frames, the unit provides a resistive path for medium-to-high-power industrial axes that cycle frequently between acceleration and braking. Its enclosed format supports integration near compatible drive equipment while keeping the resistor elements protected from incidental contact.
The module has a continuous power capability of 110 kW when operating at a duty factor of 60% SD. This duty ratio permits a maximum energization period of 72 seconds, followed by an allowable cooling period of 48 seconds to manage heat from high-inertia loads. A Ppeak-to-Pcont ratio of 1.5 allows the resistor to absorb short power bursts above the continuous level without exceeding its thermal limits. Two aluminum-encased resistor elements dissipate the converted energy across the assembly to reduce concentrated hot spots. Each element is connected through a 2 × 50 mm² feeder that accommodates the required current and supports uniform power distribution.
Each resistor element has a resistance of 5.4 Ω, while the assembly supports a minimum external resistance of 2.5 Ω when multiple modules are connected in parallel. The thermal time constant is 100 seconds, indicating how quickly the surface temperature approaches a stable level after the electrical load changes. During operation, the housing temperature remains below 80 °C. The IP23 enclosure protects against foreign objects larger than 12 mm and water falling at an angle of up to 60 degrees from vertical. Relative humidity may reach 90 percent, allowing the module to operate in humid production areas when it is installed with the required cabinet protection and ventilation. Adequate spacing around the housing allows generated heat to escape and helps prevent nearby components from being exposed to excessive temperatures.
