Product Description:
The RZW03.1-110-025 braking module is a resistor assembly produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RZW Braking Resistors series. Designed for cabinet or frame mounting, the unit converts excess DC-bus energy from servo or inverter axes into heat, preventing overvoltage during deceleration or load reversals in automated machinery. Its rectangular steel housing includes protective screens that allow airflow while limiting accidental contact. It supports repetitive braking cycles in production lines where kinetic energy must be removed quickly.
The resistor has a continuous dissipation rating of 110 kW when the average duty cycle does not exceed the 25 % SD operating factor. At the core of the assembly is a stainless steel grid with a cold resistance of 2.6 Ω; this value sets the load presented to the DC link and governs current rise during brake events. For short bursts, the grid endures energy peaks at a 3.2:1 peak-to-continuous ratio, but each energized period must be limited to 30 s before the required cooling interval begins. The minimum external resistance that may be wired in parallel is 2.5 Ω, so additional resistor banks can be combined without exceeding controller current limits. A line cross-section of 70 mm² is provided at the terminal bars so supply conductors remain within allowable temperature rise, and the threaded M10 terminals support low-impedance joints.
During the required cooling pause of 90 s, natural convection through the finned enclosure restores element temperature before the next cycle. The resistor’s thermal mass is characterized by a 100 s thermal time constant, giving predictable temperature tracking during operation. An IP23 housing blocks direct spray while permitting vertical airflow, and the unit weighs 82 kg. Overall dimensions are 1,100 mm high, 595 mm wide, and 490 mm deep, matching design code 1 for cabinet-side installation.
