Product Description:
The RZW03.1-075-040 braking resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the RZW Braking Resistors series. Installed on the DC bus of servo and inverter drives, it converts energy returned by rapidly decelerating axes into thermal energy. This conversion helps prevent overvoltage faults and supports controlled stopping in automated production lines.
The resistor has a continuous rating of 75 kW, allowing it to dissipate electrical power during each permitted duty cycle. For short braking bursts, it tolerates a peak load of 67 kW, provided utilization does not exceed the specified operating factor of 40% SD. The element may remain energized for 48 seconds before requiring a 72-second recovery period to keep its internal temperature within acceptable limits. A thermal time constant of 100 seconds indicates how quickly the housing responds to heating. The surface temperature may rise to 80 °C without impairing operation. Its IP23 enclosure protects against finger contact, falling dirt, and water spray, making the unit suitable for cabinet-top or open-machine mounting where moderate shielding is available. Design 1 establishes the internal winding layout and sets the resistance at 5 Ω. A connected resistor array must maintain a minimum resistance of 3.75 Ω.
The steel enclosure measures 795 mm in width, 770 mm in height, and 490 mm in depth. Its mass is 86 kg, which requires a mounting surface capable of supporting the resistor securely during operation. An M10 mounting thread on the frame allows the enclosure to be bolted directly to a panel or machine base. The power connection accepts conductors with cross-sectional areas up to 50 mm². A separate ground terminal accommodates a 10 mm² protective grounding conductor. The mounting arrangement should provide adequate clearance around the housing so heat can dissipate without exposing nearby components to excessive temperatures. Continuous service is permitted at relative humidity levels up to 90 percent. Parallel resistor arrangements may be used only when their combined electrical resistance remains within the drive’s permitted range.
