Product Description:
Bosch Rexroth Indramat produced the RZW03.1-075-015 resistor for the RZW Braking Resistors series. This cabinet-mounted braking resistor works with compatible inverters and servo drives to dissipate excess kinetic energy generated during rapid deceleration or by overhauling loads. By converting that energy into heat within a dedicated resistor assembly, it prevents DC-bus overvoltage and helps maintain drive stability in automated handling, packaging, and machining equipment. The cabinet installation must provide adequate clearance for heat dissipation and access to the electrical connections.
The resistor’s continuous power absorption capability is rated at 75 kW, indicating how much electrical power can be converted into heat during permitted operation. Its core resistance is 5.1 Ω, which controls the current that flows when the drive clamps the DC bus and directly affects braking torque. The drive controller must not connect to a resistance lower than 3.75 Ω, because excessive discharge current could damage power semiconductors. During cyclic operation, the unit supports a 15% duty cycle. The maximum permitted on-time is 18 seconds, which limits heat accumulation during each load cycle. Electrical connections accommodate conductors with a cross-sectional area of 50 mm². The housing measures 795 mm wide, 520 mm high, and 490 mm deep, allowing it to be installed in a suitably sized machine enclosure.
The permitted off-time is 102 seconds, allowing the internal resistor elements to cool before the next operating cycle begins. The assembly has a thermal time constant of 100 seconds, so its temperature changes at a predictable rate in response to load pulses and cooling periods. An enclosure protection rating of IP23 protects live parts against finger contact and falling water spray at angles up to 60 degrees from vertical. The frame weighs 51 kg and must be secured to a support structure capable of carrying the load. M10 terminal studs provide the primary electrical connection points. The installation must also maintain the 80 °C surface temperature ceiling and comply with the maximum load cycle of 120 seconds.
