Product Description:
The RZW03.1-045-015 is a braking resistor built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. It is wired across the intermediate circuit of a drive package so that regenerative current created during motor deceleration is diverted into a heat-dissipating load. Integrating this part keeps the DC voltage within safe limits and helps prevent nuisance overvoltage trips in conveyor lines, presses, and gantry axes that demand frequent braking cycles.
The resistor can absorb up to 45 kW of pulse power, and its fixed resistance of 6.6 Ω sets the current that flows when the drive reaches the chopper threshold. A peak-to-continuous ratio of 4 indicates that it can tolerate four times the average thermal load during short bursts, provided that each active period does not exceed 18 s. The complementary off-time of 102 s and an operating factor of 15% SD limit average heating so the element stays within its insulation class. A 25 mm² conductor cross section accommodates the fault current that can arise if the chopper closes at maximum DC voltage, and the minimum connectable resistance of 6 Ω helps prevent overload of the braking transistor in parallel connections. With a thermal time constant of 100 s, the housing temperature rises slowly, allowing drive controllers to model resistor heating with simple duty-cycle calculations.
The assembly stands 520 mm high, spans 595 mm in width, and extends 490 mm in depth, which matches the F2 ventilated housing type used on panel backplates. A mass of 36 kg gives the unit enough thermal inertia for repeated stops without auxiliary cooling. Threaded M10 terminals simplify installation, and Design 1 mounting brackets line up with standard cabinet hole patterns. The enclosure has an IP23 ingress rating, so it resists finger contact and sprayed water while still allowing airflow across the resistor grid.
