The RZW03.1-045-006 is a braking resistor module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RZW Braking Resistors series. In regenerative drive systems, this unit converts excess kinetic energy into heat during rapid deceleration or with overhauling loads. This conversion keeps the DC-bus voltage within safe operating limits and protects connected drive equipment from excessive voltage.
The resistor can absorb up to 45 kW of electrical power without exceeding its short-term thermal limits. Its nominal resistance is 7.5 Ω, which determines the current flow at a given DC voltage, while the design permits a minimum resistance of 6 Ω when devices are connected in parallel. The maximum permitted surface temperature is 80 °C, which must be considered when planning enclosure ventilation and clearances. The housing meets the IP23 ingress protection rating, guarding it against solid objects larger than 12 mm and angled water spray while allowing free airflow for cooling.
