Product Description:
The RZW03.1-030-006 is a braking resistor module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. In regenerative servo or inverter systems, this unit converts surplus DC-bus energy into heat so that the connected drive controller can decelerate motors without overvoltage faults. Its construction and terminal layout let it mount close to the power section of an Indramat drive cabinet, providing the required discharge path whenever dynamic braking is commanded.
The resistor can absorb up to 30 kW of instantaneous braking power, but continuous operation is limited to an operating factor of 6% SD. A cold resistance of 10 Ω sets the initial current that flows during each discharge pulse, while a minimum connectable value of 8.75 Ω helps protect the drive against excessive peak current when multiple resistors are wired in parallel. The enclosure carries a protection rating of IP23, so it resists vertically falling water drops while remaining ventilated for air cooling. Power cables up to 6 mm² can be connected to the internal terminals, matching the permissible RMS current associated with the power and resistance values.
A sheet-steel housing surrounds the resistor grid and measures 395 mm wide, 490 mm deep, and 520 mm high, and it connects to the DC bus through an M10 terminal stud. The assembly weighs 26 kg, which adds thermal mass and works with a thermal time constant of 100 s to moderate temperature rise during repeated braking events. During operation, the ambient temperature around the unit must remain below 40 °C, while the ceramic elements may reach a surface temperature of 80 °C without damage. The ventilated design supports heat dissipation during repetitive stop cycles and allows the resistor module to operate within its stated thermal limits.
