Product Description:
The RZW03.1-001-025 is a braking resistor manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. In an AC drive system, the component converts excess kinetic energy from decelerating motors into heat so the DC bus voltage of Indramat converters stays within safe limits. The resistor mounts inside a control cabinet and connects to the power section through 2.5 mm² leads, providing a predetermined thermal sink that complements Rexroth drives without requiring external energy-dumping hardware. It carries design code 1 and is suitable for use with compatible drive systems.
During braking events, the device can absorb up to 1.5 kW of power without exceeding its permitted temperature range. Its electrical impedance is fixed at 120 Ω, and drive controllers must monitor current so the total resistance does not fall below the specified minimum of 30 Ω when several units are wired in parallel. The duty profile allows a maximum energized period of 30 s. After this period, the resistor requires a recovery interval of 90 s to release accumulated heat. These timing limits protect the internal resistor elements during repeated motor decelerations and help prevent excessive thermal stress within the cabinet.
Overall cycling capability is represented by a load cycle of 120 s and an operating factor of 25% SD, meaning the resistor may be active for one quarter of each complete cycle. A thermal time constant of 150 s indicates how long the housing takes to reach 63% of its final temperature, so the enclosure must provide adequate airflow. The aluminum casing has a protection rating of IP23, making it suitable for ventilated cabinets while protecting internal parts from direct contact and water spray at limited angles. When multiple units are mounted on one heat sink, a reduction factor of 3.2 limits their combined power capacity and helps control heat concentration. The resistor measures 270 mm × 190 mm × 180 mm and has a mass of 5 kg, allowing it to be installed alongside Indramat power modules in compact control cabinets.
