Installed on the DC link of compatible Indramat drive controllers, the unit converts regenerative electrical energy produced during rapid motor deceleration into heat, helping maintain the bus voltage within a safe operating range. This function supports controlled braking in conveying, machining, and packaging equipment where motors frequently return energy to the drive. The packaged, floor-mounted design allows the assembly to be installed beside a control cabinet without occupying internal panel space.
This model provides 200 kW of instantaneous absorption capacity, indicating the peak power that it can convert into heat during an active braking interval. The integrated resistor grid has a nominal resistance of 2.0 Ω, so the connected drive must limit discharge current to a permissible level. When several inverters share the assembly, the wiring arrangement may reduce the effective resistance to a minimum of 1.6 Ω, helping control the DC-link voltage across a larger bus system.
