Product Description:
The RZW02.1-132-060 is a braking resistor module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. In multi-axis drive systems, this component converts surplus kinetic energy from regenerative braking into heat so that the common DC bus voltage remains within safe limits. The module belongs to the RZW Braking Resistor product group and is design version 1 of line 2, making it compatible with Rexroth inverter platforms that require an external energy-dissipation element.
Each resistor stack has a rated braking power of 132 kW when operated at 60% SD, meaning the device may conduct for six minutes during each ten-minute cycle without overheating. A single housing has a fixed resistance of 4.4 Ω, while units may be connected in parallel to reach a minimum system resistance of 2.2 Ω. This lower limit protects the inverter chopper from excessive current. A thermal time constant of 100 s indicates how quickly the resistor mass approaches a stable temperature after a step change in load, allowing the drive to calculate safe duty intervals. The 2 × C6 internal arrangement distributes current across two identical sub-elements, reducing localized hot spots during regenerative operation.
The steel enclosure has an ingress protection rating of IP 20, shielding fingers from live parts while allowing cooling air to circulate. During normal operation, the fin surface stabilizes near 80 °C, which must be considered when determining cabinet spacing and nearby component placement. The housing measures 795 mm in width, 960 mm in height, and 490 mm in depth, and it is secured through an M10 mounting thread. A ground conductor with a minimum cross-sectional area of 10 mm² must be installed to carry fault current safely. The assembly weighs 102 kg, so suitable lifting equipment should be used during installation.
