The RZW02.1-132-015 braking resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. This external resistor module is connected to the DC bus of Rexroth inverters so regenerated energy is safely dissipated as heat instead of returning to the mains. By removing braking losses from the converter, the unit supports rapid motor deceleration and repeated stop-and-start cycles in indexing tables, gantry axes, and press drives. Its external design also prevents the converter housing from absorbing all of the heat produced during dynamic braking.
The resistor’s maximum absorption capability reaches 132 kW, indicating the peak braking power that can be converted into heat during each braking event. Its fixed resistance of 2.7 Ω sets the peak current that flows at the rated bus voltage and affects the thermal load placed on the steel grid elements. The module may conduct for up to 18 s before a cooling pause is required. An off interval of 102 s then allows the resistor bank to return to a safe operating temperature.
