Product Description:
The RZW02.1-110-060 is a braking resistor module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. Installed on the DC bus of servo drives or variable-frequency inverters, it converts surplus regenerative energy into heat so that the intermediate-circuit voltage stays within safe limits during rapid deceleration or overhauling loads. The unit follows design code 1 and connects directly to compatible Rexroth power sections. This arrangement provides a controlled path for energy that returns from a motor while its speed is being reduced.
The module can absorb up to 110 kW of braking power during its rated duty cycle. Each resistor bank has an impedance of 5.4 Ω. With two banks mounted in parallel, the DC link sees a minimum connectable resistance of 2.5 Ω. Wiring is carried on two separate lines, and the cable set has a cross-sectional area of 2 × 50 mm², allowing low-loss current transfer to the heat sink elements. An operating factor of 60% sequence duty indicates the proportion of the total cycle during which energy may be applied. A PLC controls the resistor sequence by monitoring the 72-second energy window and enforcing the required cooling period so that thermal limits are not exceeded.
The unit measures 595 mm in width, 490 mm in depth, and 960 mm in height. It weighs 74 kg and can be installed in a suitable cabinet without an external support frame. The resistor may conduct for a maximum of 72 s before cooling is required. The required off-time is 48 s, and the thermal time constant is 100 s. Its surface temperature may rise to 80 °C while remaining within the insulation limits. The IP20 enclosure prevents accidental contact with live internal parts but does not provide protection against water. Adequate clearance around the module allows heat to dissipate during the required off-time and helps prevent nearby equipment from being exposed to excessive temperatures.
