It converts excess regenerative energy into heat, protecting connected inverters from DC-link overvoltage during rapid deceleration or load reversals. This function allows the drive to control braking energy that cannot be returned immediately to the power supply. This resistor can absorb up to 110 kW of braking power within its permitted duty cycle.
