Product Description:

The RZW02.1-110-006 braking resistor is supplied by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the RZW Braking Resistors series. Installed on the DC bus of servo inverters, it momentarily absorbs regenerative energy and limits the bus voltage so that motors can decelerate quickly without triggering overvoltage faults in automated machinery. This module follows the series’ air-cooled design and fits inside control cabinets where forced ventilation is already present.

Its thermal assembly is rated for continuous dissipation of 110 kW during permitted duty periods. The internal element has a resistance of 3.1 Ω, so a drive that applies 750 VDC would draw roughly 242 A through the resistor. Acceptable cycling is governed by an operating factor of 6% SD, meaning the resistor may conduct for only a small fraction of each 120-second load cycle to avoid overheating. Within that cycle, the allowable energized interval is limited to 7.2 s, after which a recovery pause of 112.8 s is required. A conductor cross-section of 50 mm² is specified for the line connection to carry the high pulse current. The minimum connectable resistance of 2.5 Ω allows multiple units to operate in parallel when lower resistance values are needed.

The thermal mass has a time constant of 100 s, so its surface temperature responds to power changes with a noticeable delay but remains below the permitted maximum of 80 °C when the resistor is used within the stated duty cycle. The housing meets the IP20 protection class, providing finger-safe openings while relying on the cabinet for additional ingress protection. The module measures 795 mm wide, 490 mm deep, and 460 mm high, and it weighs 45 kg. The unit is Design 1 of Line 2 in the series and supports vertical mounting on a backplate with adequate airflow between adjacent units.
