Product Description:
The RZW02.1-090-060 braking resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. Connected across the DC link of drive controllers, it converts regenerative motor energy into controlled heat, preventing overvoltage faults during rapid deceleration in automated conveyors, presses, and machining centers. Its design supports high-power, multi-axis installations that require dependable dynamic braking during demanding motion cycles.
The resistor has a continuous absorption capability of 90 kW, indicating the maximum power it can dissipate when the drive commands braking within the permitted duty cycle. Its nominal resistance of 3.9 Ω sets the current drawn from the DC bus and affects the instantaneous braking torque available to the system. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, so the resistor must be installed inside a suitable cabinet that prevents exposure to falling objects and dripping liquids. The permitted operating factor is 60% SD, which allows the element to remain loaded for 60 percent of each 120-second cycle. A thermal time constant of 100 s indicates how quickly the internal temperature responds to changes in load, allowing the drive to estimate heat accumulation during operation. The minimum connectable resistance is 2.5 Ω, which prevents parallel wiring arrangements from drawing excessive current and overstressing the inverter.
The frame measures 995 mm in width, 960 mm in height, and 490 mm in depth, requiring adequate clearance for airflow and cable bends within the installation area. With a mass of 126 kg, the assembly requires a bolted base or supporting rack that can accommodate a substantial static load. The resistor is part of Line 2 and uses Design 1, identifying its position within the product series. Its C7 resistor arrangement mounts tubular elements on ceramic supports to distribute heat evenly across the assembly. Cabinet placement should maintain unobstructed ventilation paths so heat can move away from the resistor during repeated braking events.
