The RZW02.1-055-006 braking resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RZW Braking Resistors series. As a power-dissipation module, it connects to drive controllers that regenerate energy during deceleration and converts that energy into heat, preventing DC-bus overvoltage in industrial automation axes. Electrical safety is supported by the enclosure’s IP20 rating, which provides protection against finger contact while permitting air to circulate for convection cooling.
The resistor can dissipate up to 55 kW during the permitted duty window, and its nominal resistance is 6.1 Ω. This resistance limits discharge current while matching converters that accept a minimum resistance of 5 Ω. Peak power may be applied for up to 7.2 s per cycle with an operating factor of 6% SD, so the resistor must remain inactive during the rest of the cycle to prevent thermal overload.
