Product Description:
The RZW02.1-045-006 braking resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. In drive systems, it converts excess kinetic energy from rapid deceleration into heat, protecting the connected inverter against overvoltage. With design code 1 and line number 2, the unit fits regenerative braking circuits used throughout automated conveyors, gantry axes, and packaging machines.
The resistor’s continuous energy dissipation capability is rated at 45 kW, allowing it to absorb sizable braking pulses without exceeding its thermal limits. Its base resistance value is 7.5 Ω, and drives with DC-bus voltages can connect resistors down to 6 Ω in parallel configurations when higher current absorption is necessary. During a load cycle of 120 seconds, the operating factor is 6% SD; this means the element may conduct for a small portion of the cycle while remaining off for the balance of the period. Within that window, the permitted energized time is 7.2 seconds, and the mandatory recovery pause is 112.8 seconds, ensuring that the housing surface temperature does not exceed its 80 °C limit. These time-based limits must be followed in PLC braking profiles so that the resistor can cool adequately between successive stops.
The unit has a width of 490 mm, a depth of 400 mm, and a height of 270 mm, providing a clear footprint for panel layouts. Its total mass is 13 kg, so standard cabinet mounting rails can carry the load without reinforcement. A thermal time constant of 100 seconds indicates how quickly the internal temperature approaches equilibrium after power dissipation begins. The assembly has an IP20 protection rating, meaning fingers and solid objects larger than 12 mm are blocked while airflow remains unobstructed for convection. Adequate enclosure clearance must be maintained to support natural airflow and keep the housing within its maximum permitted temperature.
