The RZW02.1-018-025 braking resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. Integrated into an inverter’s DC link, the device absorbs surplus regenerative energy and dissipates it as heat, keeping the bus voltage within the permissible range during emergency stops or controlled deceleration. This external load element can shorten braking times and help prevent drive overvoltage faults in conveyors, packaging machines, and other high-inertia motion axes. It also provides a dedicated path for energy returned by the motor when a driven load slows down rapidly.

The resistor can continuously absorb up to 18.5 kW during its rated duty period. A fixed resistance of 18 Ω establishes the braking current that flows when the unit is connected to the specified DC voltage. The 25% SD duty cycle corresponds to a 30-second operating period followed by a 90-second resting period within a 120-second load cycle, allowing the element to cool during intermittent service.
