Product Description:
The RZW02.1-007-060 is a braking resistor module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. Installed on the DC bus of Indramat inverters, it converts excess kinetic energy from decelerating servomotors into heat, helping the drive electronics remain within their voltage limits during dynamic stops. A cold resistance of 3.3 Ω controls the current drawn from the bus and the instantaneous power dissipated by the resistor.
The unit absorbs a continuous thermal load of 7.5 kW and tolerates short-term peaks up to 65 kW when high-inertia axes decelerate abruptly. Field wiring connects through terminals sized for a conductor cross section of 2.5 mm², accommodating a commonly used automation cable size. Protective louvers surround the resistor element and provide an enclosure rating of IP20, which prevents accidental finger contact while allowing unrestricted airflow. The steel housing measures 490 mm wide, 400 mm deep, and 270 mm high. Its mounting holes form a 380 mm by 370 mm footprint, allowing the housing to be positioned with adequate separation from adjacent panel hardware.
An operating factor of 60 % permits cyclical braking while keeping the resistor below its maximum surface temperature of 80 °C. Thermal response is characterized by a time constant of 100 s. After a full-load event and one time constant of cooling, the temperature difference falls to approximately 37 percent of its initial value. The assembly has a mass of 13 kg and is secured through M10 fasteners positioned on the side flanges. Design code 1 and line number 2 associate the model with compatible power cables and control components. When the module is installed with the required 2 mm clearance on every side, natural convection through the open grille removes heat during normal drive cycles.
