Product Description:
The RZW02.1-007-015 is a dynamic braking resistor module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RZW Braking Resistors series. By converting surplus regenerative energy from a servo or inverter drive into heat, it keeps the DC bus voltage within safe limits during the deceleration of motors and axes in automated machinery. The module operates as an external dissipative load that helps prevent overvoltage trips, allowing predictable braking profiles in conveyors, gantries, and packaging lines.
The module has a resistance of 33 Ω and draws current from the drive’s DC link so that up to 7.5 kW of braking power can be converted into thermal energy. Its duty cycle has an operating factor of 15% SD with reference to a 120 s load cycle. Within that period, the resistor may remain energized for a maximum of 18 s before cooling is required. The minimum connectable resistance is 30 Ω, which is the lowest aggregate resistance permitted when multiple units are wired in parallel. This limit keeps the current passing through the braking chopper within its allowable range. Electrical connections are made through M6 screw terminals. The resistor body has ventilated sidewalls and measures 185 mm deep, 120 mm high, and 586 mm wide.
After its maximum operating period, the resistor must remain idle for 102 s so its aluminum housing can release accumulated heat. The module has a 300 s thermal time constant, which indicates how quickly its temperature responds to heating and cooling. Its IP20 protection class guards against contact with internal components by fingers or similarly sized objects, but it does not protect against water. The ventilated enclosure must therefore be installed in a suitable cabinet that permits unobstructed airflow while preventing exposure to moisture. At 5.2 kg, the module can be secured directly to a cabinet panel with adequate structural support. The product belongs to RZW product line 2 and design 1, and its elongated housing requires sufficient horizontal mounting space around the connection points and ventilation openings.
