The resistor can absorb up to 5.5 kW of electrical power during each braking cycle, and it has a resistance of 47 Ω. These ratings establish the braking current and energy load that the connected drive can direct through the resistor without exceeding its thermal limits. Continuous operation is not intended because an operating factor of 25% SD permits the element to remain energized for one quarter of each 120-second load cycle.
