Bosch Rexroth Indramat supplies the RZW02.1-004-025 braking resistor as part of its RZW Braking Resistors series. The module connects to regenerative inverters and servo drives, converting surplus kinetic energy into heat so that the DC bus voltage stays within safe limits during rapid deceleration cycles. This process protects the power electronics and keeps motion systems stable in industrial automation lines. The resistor is preassembled in a ventilated enclosure and provides screw-terminal interfaces for the main conductors and protective grounding conductor, simplifying its integration into a drive cabinet. Its enclosed format also helps prevent accidental contact with the resistor element while allowing generated heat to escape through the available ventilation openings.
The unit absorbs up to 4 kW of braking power when operated according to its specified duty cycle. The element has a resistance of 47 Ω, which limits peak current on 700 V DC links. Parallel configurations must maintain a minimum connectable resistance of 30 Ω to avoid overloading the braking chopper. The module uses design code 1 and line 2 layouts.
