Product Description:

The RZW02.1-001-025 is a reliable augmented braking resistor built by Bosch Rexroth to help servo systems and motion controller to safely absorb and dissipate the excess energy generated during motor deceleration. The resistor is designed through a combination of more than 30 years of experience and new technological innovations. The advanced design of this product allows it to handle applications with large inertial masses and heavy loads, such as centrifuges and cranes. Unlike conventional resistors, this product operates at an efficiency as high as 90 per cent; it also runs at a reduced risk of unexpected machine breakdown. The excess energy absorbed by this product is converted into heat and dissipated; this energy conversion might cause the surface temperature of this product to reach a value as high as 80 degrees Celsius. Operators handling the device are required to follow stated procedures to avoid damage.

The RZW02.1-001-025 braking resistor must be properly configured on the converter before it is commissioned for use. The necessary configuration parameters that should be specified on the converter include resistance value, continuous power of the connected resistor, and thermal time constant. For the RZW02.1-001-025, its resistance value is about 1.5 kilowatts, its resistance value is 120 ohms, and its thermal time constant is determined to be about 300 seconds. This information can also be found on the type label attached to the housing of the braking resistor.

When the limit values for the thermal portrayal of the braking resistor are exceeded, the converter shuts down with the error “BR Overload” to protect the RZW02.1-001-025 braking resistor from being overloaded. Other possible causes of errors include incorrect braking resistor connection, descending ramp too fast, and too high resistance due to a defect.
