Product Description:
The RZW01.1-037-NNN braking resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the RZW Braking Resistors series. In regenerative drive systems the resistor absorbs surplus DC-bus energy and converts it to heat, protecting the connected inverter from overvoltage during motor deceleration. By matching its resistance value and thermal capacity to Indramat drive lines, the unit provides reliable energy dissipation without active cooling devices.
Electrically, the module presents a resistance of 7.0 Ω, setting the current that can flow from the chopper circuit during each braking pulse. Its rated energy-conversion capability reaches 37 kW, meaning the resistor can continuously dissipate that power within the stated duty cycle. Thermally, a constant of 185 s describes how long the core needs to reach 63 % of its final temperature after a load step; this figure guides drive tuning for cyclic braking. The ceramic elements are arranged on a constructional grid of 22.5 mm, allowing standardized panel mounting alongside other DIN-rail hardware. Bosch Rexroth specifies a free-air spacing of 100 mm above the housing to maintain convection flow, and the external casing may reach up to 100 °C without exceeding material limits.
Mechanical and environmental limits complete the profile. The assembly weighs 4.8 kg, so cabinet layout must accommodate its static load and mounting hardware. During operation the fin surface can climb to a maximum of 80 °C, therefore adjacent cables must be temperature rated accordingly. Reliable function is verified for ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 40 °C and storage between −25 °C and 70 °C, while service is permitted in atmospheres with up to 90 % relative humidity without condensation. Size class C, design 1, and the ED operating factor identify the thermal duty grouping used by the manufacturer for quick selection when matching resistors to power-stage line 1.
