The device is intended for cabinet mounting in general-purpose automation lines where motion cycles include frequent stops, rapid reversals, or emergency braking events that generate short bursts of regenerative energy.
The resistor is rated for continuous thermal dissipation of 11 kW, allowing it to handle steady braking currents during normal production cycles. For rapid deceleration, it can absorb a peak load of 32 kW for up to 1 s before reaching its thermal limits. Its electrical resistance is 20 Ω; this value controls the instantaneous current drawn from the DC link and therefore affects the braking torque available to the machine.
