Product Description:
The RM6SM-16DP-F is a modular PROFIBUS device built by Rexroth Indramat to support automation tasks and improve communication in industrial applications. This product is intended to function as a Direct Bus Control device; it also comes with a strong and compact housing that can be easily installed into servo systems upon delivery. This device comes with about four light-emitting diodes integrated into its housing unit. The integrated diodes serve as diagnostic devices that can be used to quickly determine the connection status of the PROFIBUS system. The strong metallic housing of this product is able to sufficiently protect it against all forms of solid foreign contamination and water splashes according to IP65. The product also has electromagnetic immunity according to EN 61131-2.
The RM6SM-16DP-F PROFIBUS module requires the setting of the bus terminator before the operation; this is done to minimize wiring reflection and ensure a defined idle level in the PROFIBUS-DP transmission line. The bus terminator switches are the switches S8 and S9 on the bus module. During installation, the Bus module is placed on the multiple plug connector of the valve block system and screwed tight. Also, operators must check the gasket to ensure it is intact and installed in the correct position.
The RM6SM-16DP-F PROFIBUS module can be configured using the WinDP software, which can run under Windows 95, 98 and NT. The WinDP software also helps operators to carry out detailed diagnostic operations. This is useful in cases where insufficient or inconsistent information can't be obtained from the LEDs. Only well-trained personnel should be allowed to handle the software for the configuration of this product. Accessories that might be necessary for this product include a plug connection for the voltage supply, an M12 protective cap, and a Device Database.
