Product Description:
The RM65M-CAN is an I/O communication module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat in the RM Profibus Modules series. It acts as a compact field unit that links multiple solenoid valves and discrete sensors to a higher-level controller over a single network cable, trimming panel wiring in industrial automation lines. By energizing valve coils locally while forwarding process data upstream, the module streamlines installation of decentralized hydraulic or pneumatic manifolds. Its design targets machine tools, presses, and assembly stations where rugged on-machine electronics must survive washdown environments.
Communication is carried on the CANopen protocol through identical M23 female 9-pin connectors for bus-in and bus-out, enabling a quick daisy-chain topology. The module operates from a supply of 24 V DC and accepts a voltage window of -15%/+20%, so standard industrial power supplies can feed it without adjustment. Internally, it exposes 16 bytes of input data and the same amount of output data to the network. These bytes represent up to 32 valve coil outputs that can be switched at the configured cycle time. The device allows one active I/O extension module when it is used as the last node in a rack, and power reaches it through an M23 male 6-pin connector.
The enclosure is cast from die-cast aluminum, carries an IP65 degree of protection, and weighs only 1.01 kg, so it can be fixed directly to machine frames without extra guarding. Operation is permitted between +5 °C and +50 °C, matching typical factory floor conditions. These ambient limits and the sealed housing allow use in washdown areas where coolants or dust are present. When extra capacity is required, the maximum I/O expansion of 12 permits neighboring RM family units to be added via side connectors without altering the installed bus cabling.
