The RMK12.2-IBS-BKL is an interface module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RECO Drive Modules series. Within distributed motion systems, it links localized I/O groups to higher-level controllers so drive axes and sensors can exchange status and command data in real time. Occupying a single rack slot, the unit forms the communication bridge that allows coordinated operation of multiple power stages and peripheral devices across an automated line. At the field layer, the module communicates over INTERBUS-S, a serial ring protocol that transports cyclic process data between the master and connected nodes. The enclosure is rated IP20, indicating touch-safe protection for live parts but no sealing against liquids, so it is intended for closed electrical panels with controlled airflow. It installs on a 35 mm Top Rail according to EN 50022, allowing rapid installation without additional brackets. Once clipped in place, the unit operates as a Remote Bus Slave, forwarding up to 15 add-on I/O modules through the RECO backplane to the INTERBUS master. This arrangement allows the exact mix of digital or analog channels to be placed near the machine site, which helps reduce long wiring runs between field devices and the main cabinet. The result is a cleaner distributed layout for systems that rely on coordinated data exchange between sensors, actuators, and drive hardware.
