The RMG12.1-NN gateway module is built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RECO Drive Modules series. Serving as a communication interface, the unit links drive controllers and peripheral I/O to an INTERBUS remote bus, allowing centralized diagnostics and parameter transfer in automated lines. By occupying a single slot in a RECO rack, the module functions as a network bridge so that motion sections, sensors, and actuators can be supervised through a common fieldbus without separate wiring schemes.
In operation, the module joins the INTERBUS fieldbus and supports two separate rings. Each ring is routed through 2 in-ports and 2 out-ports, so upstream and downstream data paths remain discrete. The incoming segment terminates on a 9-pin male D-sub, while the outgoing path is forwarded through a 9-pin female connector of the same format. If a segment cable is removed, the defined Interruption-Free changeover mode keeps telegram timing intact by automatically bypassing the open link. Application cabinets do not require additional housings because the electronics are sealed to IP20, providing finger-safe protection against internal conductors.
The module draws logic power from a 24 VDC feed, and that feed can be applied on two independent terminals. The Redundant power arrangement allows one supply to assume the load if the other drops. Both lines are galvanically isolated from the bus conductors, preventing return currents from affecting field signal references. Within the node list, it announces itself as a Remote Bus Slave Device, and the designation I/O RECO12 IBS identifies the gateway for mixed digital and analog assemblies. With this arrangement, the gateway module manages address mapping, passes cyclic data to the controller during each scan, and supervises the two Interbus rings for line-break faults.
