Within an automation rack, it provides the mechanical frame and shared backplane needed for drive-related interface cards, letting machine builders group power, motion, and feedback functions in one orderly assembly. By providing a fixed slot count and clear physical boundaries, the carrier helps keep the rack layout organized inside multiaxis systems. It also keeps the installed electronics accessible within the protective enclosure of the control system.

This carrier accepts RME02, RMA02, MTS-R, MTC-R plug-in modules and arranges them in up to four unshared bays that are keyed to prevent mixing. Installation is constrained to a control cabinet, where the unit’s convection path remains unobstructed and its bus connectors align to the main RECO rail. The housing meets the IP20 rating, so fingers and tools are blocked from live parts while forced ventilation remains possible. A chassis width of 182 mm and a depth of 56 mm keep the footprint narrow, making it easy to stack carriers on DIN rails beside power supplies or safety relays without wasting panel space. Module indexing rails guide each card into its slot, and copper earth tabs tie the card shields to cabinet ground to limit conducted noise. This arrangement also helps maintain orderly signal routing and reduces the chance of a card being inserted into the wrong position.

Additional rack capacity is created through serial placement or a connecting cable, and this daisy-chain method lets up to 4 station carriers share one backbone. That arrangement yields a maximum of 16 slots for functional cards before a new node is required. The vertical dimension of 217 mm aligns with standard 200 mm sub-racks, so staggered air gaps can remain between carriers even when the rack is fully populated. This allows the control cabinet to expand in an orderly way as more interface functions are added. The layout also supports consistent spacing between adjacent modules, which helps preserve access to plug-in areas and backplane connections.
