Within an automated cell, the unit assigns addresses to downstream drives and channels status signals back to the supervisory controller, forming the interface between cabinet-level wiring and the motion control network used on assembly lines, packaging machines, and material-handling systems.

The module receives incoming line power through the X1 connector, and the circuit is rated for 220 VAC, so it can connect to standard single-phase utility feeders without a step-down transformer. For parameter access and serial diagnostics, the embedded controller exposes a X2 interface that links directly to a laptop or PLC.
