The MTS-R02.1 module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and is part of the RECO Drive Modules series. It mounts on a TS 35 × 27 × 15 DIN rail, which lets it fit neatly into an automation cabinet without requiring a large footprint. The unit serves as a rack-style base that provides the mechanical connection point and low-voltage distribution for add-on communication and I/O electronics. This layout helps motion-related signals and process data move between local modules and higher-level controllers in an organized way.

Its electrical section operates from 24 VDC and tolerates ripple up to 4 Vpp without losing function. Under full configuration, the unit draws 700 mA, and power dissipation can reach 19.6 W, so the enclosure should allow heat to escape by natural convection. The IP20 housing is intended for enclosed cabinet installation, and the aluminum body measures 83.7 × 192 × 156 mm while keeping the assembly compact. Field wiring up to 1.5 mm² can be connected at the removable front terminal, which makes supply connections easier to route and service. An integrated fuse stage protects the module against reverse-polarity connection, and the internal copper bus passes the low-voltage supply to attached submodules.

For signal capacity, the module supports 4096 inputs and 4096 outputs, which suits larger distributed control systems. It includes 3 expansion slots for controller or fieldbus cards, and the arrangement can be extended with up to 15 additional I/O modules without changing the addressing structure. The integrated communication section includes RS232, RS422, and RS485 capability, plus an Interbus D-sub 9-pin female connector and a programming link that uses the same serial standards. For direct front-panel connections, the unit provides two RS232 ports and two RS422/RS485 ports, allowing separate channels for diagnostics, host communication, and local access.
