Product Description:
The R-IB IL AO 2/U/BP-PAC is an analog output interface module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the R-IB Interface Modules series. It occupies a single slot on the remote bus and converts digital values from the controller into field-level signals for actuators and transducers in automated equipment. By performing this conversion close to the I/O backbone, the module extends analog capability without altering existing system architecture. This arrangement lets a control system issue voltage-based commands to connected field devices from the same distributed I/O station that handles the rest of the machine signals.
For operation, the module draws 24 V DC for the analog section while its bus logic is powered separately at 7.5 V DC, isolating signal conditioning from communication circuitry. A digital-to-analog converter with 13-bit resolution produces finely incremented output steps, enabling sub-percent setpoint adjustments. The hardware provides 2 independent analog output channels, and each channel is mapped to the controller image through a 32-bit process data block that carries both value and status information. This structure allows command values and channel condition data to move through the bus exchange together. The separation between the analog supply and bus supply also helps reduce the influence of communication-side disturbances on the generated output signal.
Field conductors attach through a 2-conductor plug system that simplifies polarity checking and keeps front wiring straightforward. When shielded cabling is used, run length can extend to 500 m without degrading signal integrity, allowing remote placement of actuators across large machines. The housing carries an IP20 protection rating, so it is intended for mounting inside a cabinet where touch-safe barriers are required but environmental sealing is not. On the bus side, telegrams travel at up to 500 kbps, maintaining timely refresh of command words even when many stations share the segment. Long cable support also helps place voltage-driven devices near the machine section they serve instead of routing every analog line back to a central enclosure.
