The R-IB IL 24 DI 8 is a digital input interface module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the R-IB Interface Modules series. The module installs on an IndraControl I/O rail and accepts sensor signals from the machine field. It forwards the logical state of each signal to the controller, enabling precise status monitoring and event detection in automated plants. Its compact design allows it to operate alongside other input, output, and control modules on the same rail.
Its discrete input channels conform to IEC 61131-2 Type 1 requirements. Each channel is rated for a field voltage of 24 V DC, recognizes a logical “1” above the high-level threshold of 15 V DC, and returns a logical “0” when the signal drops below the 5 V DC limit. The module maps its 8 inputs into a compact 1-byte controller address, minimizing scan overhead. Conversion latency is less than 1 ms, so fast sensor changes can be evaluated in real time. A 500 kbps local bus transfers the digitized states to adjacent modules. An internal 7.5 V DC logic rail powers the interface application-specific integrated circuits. Spring-cage terminals accept two-, three-, or four-conductor sensor cables, allowing several common field-wiring arrangements within the 48.8 mm-wide housing.
The field side draws energy from the segment supply, which uses the plant’s 24 V DC rail and can deliver up to 2 A to consecutive R-IB modules. Connected sensors may draw a combined maximum of 250 mA, while the input electronics consume no more than 50 mA. These current limits help control the electrical load placed on the cabinet power supply. The spring-cage connections secure conductors without torque tools, and separate commons support proximity switches with different wiring arrangements. The narrow housing supports high-density installation beside analog, relay, or motion modules in the same rack. The logic pathway remains isolated from transients on the segment conductors, helping preserve the integrity of input data as states move from field devices to the local bus.
