The R-IB IL 24 DI 16 is a sixteen-channel digital input module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the R-IB Interface Modules series. Designed for cabinet installation, it converts field-level 24 V signals into controller-ready data words so that sensors and switches can be monitored without direct wiring into the CPU. Internal logic draws its own low-voltage supply and routes status information onto the backplane, making the module a compact signal concentrator in distributed automation racks.
The module operates from a nominal field supply of 24 V DC, and every input complies with the EN 61131-2 Type 1 definition while requiring at least 3 mA to register an on condition. All sixteen channels are transferred in one word, and this arrangement matches the operating mode of Process Data Mode, 1 Word. A backplane transmission speed of 500 kBit/s keeps cycle times short when large I/O networks are scanned. Overall dissipation is limited to 0.45 W max. The separate communications rail supplies 7.5 V DC to the internal circuits. Housing and terminals meet the IP20 degree of protection, so the device must be placed in an enclosed panel. The module has 16 discrete input points, and each one can accept sensors that draw up to the maximum load current stated for the unit.
