Product Description:
The PSI65C0.168-W1 medium-frequency inverter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. The unit converts three-phase utility power into an adjustable medium-frequency output for induction heating, plasma cutting, or hardening systems used in automated manufacturing cells. By integrating an internal timer function and a low-voltage auxiliary supply, the inverter can coordinate process cycles while powering sensors and valve coils directly from the drive enclosure. This arrangement also reduces the amount of external control equipment required in the electrical cabinet.
The power section accepts a three-phase input range of 400–480 VAC at 50/60 Hz, allowing installation on standard industrial mains without additional transformers. Heat generated by the switching transistors is removed through a water-cooled baseplate, so cabinet air temperature has only a minor influence on semiconductor life. An integrated auxiliary supply delivers 24 VDC at up to 2 A, providing power for contactors, proximity switches, and the inverter’s control logic. When combined with the timer circuit, this supply eliminates the need for a separate panel power source. Electrical isolation and filter stages are matched to climatic category 3K3 under EN 60721-3-3, permitting operation in production halls with moderate dust and humidity.
The enclosure carries a protection rating of IP20, so the inverter must be mounted inside a cabinet while remaining protected against accidental finger contact. During full-load operation, the inverter releases up to 420 W of cooling losses, which the water circuit must absorb to maintain internal temperatures within the permitted ambient range of +10 to +55 °C. Storage and transportation are permitted from −25 °C to +70 °C without degrading capacitor life. With a mass of 25 kg, the unit requires panel hardware and a mounting surface rated to support its weight. Adequate access around the cooling connections and electrical terminals should be maintained when positioning the inverter inside the cabinet.
