The PSI6500.100-W1 is a medium-frequency inverter built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It interfaces between a standard three-phase supply and the induction coil or transformer used in automated heating, melting, or forming lines. By converting line power to a regulated medium-frequency output, the unit enables precise thermal profiles and the high secondary currents required in modern production cells.

The inverter is rated for mains inputs of 400 – 480 VAC and controls current with a switching clock of 1 kHz to reduce ripple in the medium-frequency waveform. A control supply of 24 V DC powers the logic and monitoring circuits, while the power stage delivers a nominal line current of 660 A and can reach up to 2400 A on the output side during short-term peaks. Base cabinet dissipation is 100 W and rises to 850 W when the drive operates at maximum load, while additional heat is removed from the power semiconductors through the integrated water-cooled plate. Operation is permitted up to an ambient temperature of 45 °C as long as the coolant inlet stays below 30 °C. Overvoltage protection is handled by an MOV network connected to the DC link, and power terminations are fastened with M10 bolts.

Cooling water flows at 10 l/min through an M16 × 1.5 port, and the installation can accept motor and bus cables up to 120 mm² to carry high currents without excessive heating. The enclosure carries an ingress rating of IP20, making it suitable for mounting inside electrical cabinets with forced ventilation. On the secondary side, the matching PSG 3100 transformer can supply currents up to 120 kA for large induction loads. A metal-oxide varistor array clamps voltage spikes, and the cooling circuit helps keep semiconductor junction temperatures within limits during heavy-duty operation.
