The PSI64C0.179-W1 is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit provides power conditioning and signal interfaces that let a drive regulate induction or synchronous motors according to speed references from a higher-level controller. By converting low-level set points to scaled outputs and supervising its own 24-volt supply, the inverter forms a compact link between PLC analog channels and the motor power stage that modulates line frequency.
Its control electronics operate from a nominal 24 VDC supply, and the input can vary over a tolerance band of +20%/-15% without loss of function. Acceptable ripple on that line is limited to ±5%, so the source must be smoothed accordingly. A built-in regulator furnishes up to 2.5 A on the internal 24-volt rail for sensors, contactors, and logic circuits. Process variables are forwarded to the drive as a current loop that reaches a maximum of 20 mA, and this standardized range supports noise-resistant transmission over long cable runs. In voltage mode, the channel delivers a scaled reference without significant loading effects.
Field wiring is handled on coded connectors. The X1 serial port uses a 9-pin D-Sub for V.24/RS-232 communication, while terminal block X4 supports conductor sizes up to 1.5 mm² with 3.5 mm spacing and permits run lengths of 10 m when 0.75 mm² cable is used or 75 m with 1.5 mm² conductors. The analog channel can drive up to 500 ohms in current mode or provide a full-scale reference of 10 V in voltage mode. Switched outputs on X5 are rated for 0.5 A and can be used for relay or brake control. The enclosure has a protection rating of IP 20, and the unit falls under the 3K3 climatic category for installation in control rooms with moderate temperature and humidity.
