Product Description:
The PSI63C0.778-L1 is a medium-frequency inverter manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the PSI Frequency Inverters series. As a dedicated power conversion stage, it supplies controlled medium-frequency energy to induction heating coils, hardening machines, and other equipment that rely on rapidly switched AC rather than conventional line frequency. The unit converts three-phase mains power into a regulated higher-frequency output while coordinating with plant controllers through integrated network functions. This operating role makes it suitable for heating processes that depend on stable power delivery and repeatable cycle control during continuous production.
The inverter accepts a line window of 400 - 480 VAC, enabling installation on bus bars without an isolation transformer. Internally, a switching stage operating at 1 kHz modulates the DC link and can deliver up to 800 A to the work coil, while the nominal system current of 110 A indicates continuous load capacity. Logic circuits draw 24 V DC from a separate control supply, which helps isolate them from disturbances and supports orderly start sequencing. The unit is air-cooled, with standby cabinet loss of 69 W and maximum cabinet loss of 170 W. The housing has a rating of IP 20, and a metal-oxide varistor network provides overvoltage suppression across the DC bus. Power terminals accept conductors in a wire range of up to 35 mm².
With an external heat exchanger, dissipation reaches 360 W, so the surrounding cabinet layout must support adequate airflow. During faults, the secondary circuit can surge to 36 kA, which requires compatible downstream components. Mains and DC bars connect on blocks rated for 50 mm² conductors, and gating is synchronized through the integrated EtherNet timer interface. The chassis requires 100 mm of clearance above and below for mounting, and operation is limited to ambient temperatures up to 55 °C to prevent derating.
