Product Description:
The PSI63C0.733-W1 medium-frequency inverter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. The unit converts three-phase mains power into controlled medium-frequency output for induction heating, melting, or hardening processes that demand rapid energy transfer. Integrated timing and Ethernet-based sequencing allow the inverter to drive precise heating profiles while its water-cooled construction keeps semiconductor losses within safe limits during prolonged industrial duty cycles.
On the supply side, the inverter accepts three-phase input from 400 – 480 VAC, and its internal electronics are powered separately by a 24 V DC control circuit, isolating logic functions from mains disturbances. At full load, the power stage can deliver up to 800 A of output current, while the transformer secondary can withstand peak currents of 36 kA, providing the short-burst energy required by billet or crucible loads. The enclosure carries an IP20 protection rating, so installation is intended inside a switchgear cabinet where dust and water spray are blocked by the surrounding enclosure. Overvoltage events on the DC link are shunted through metal-oxide varistors, and a dedicated timer channel coordinates firing sequences over an Ethernet interface.
Heat generated during these high-current cycles is removed by a water circuit that must maintain 4 l/min through the M16 × 1.5 threaded connectors and keep inlet fluid below 30 °C; this thermal management permits ambient temperatures up to 55 °C without current derating. The integrated controller stores as many as 256 user programs, allowing rapid changeover between part families without reloading parameters. A lithium backup cell rated at 3.6 V preserves clock settings and recipe data when control power is removed, and the 1 kHz internal clock governs dwell-time accuracy for each heat cycle. Wire terminals accommodate conductors up to 35 mm², and the 1.5 A timer output can energize external contactors that synchronize quench or feed mechanisms.
