PSI63C0.729-W1 is a medium-frequency inverter from Bosch Rexroth’s PSI 6100 product line. It delivers output voltage and DC current to a welding transformer. Current output of the inverter is 110 Amps and the clock frequency is 1 kilohertz. A steady output current – devoid of gaps – and variable weld time allow for metered energy application to the weld spot, which enables steady spot growth. The inverter provides especially good results for galvanized sheet and aluminum welding. The inverter is especially suited to applications that require welding of very thin sheets, 3-sheet welding and fine spot application. Use of the inverter causes few welding splashes, reducing wastage. The system utilizes constant-current control that compensates for sheet resistance changes during weld time for a superior welding result. In order to determine the duty cycle, operators must know the weld time and overall weld duration.
KEB has designed the unit for 3-phase input at 400 to 480 Volts AC. The inverter is a water-cooled device and requires minimum 4 liters/min coolant flow for proper cooling. For optimal performance, the ambient temperature threshold of 55 degrees Celsius must not be exceeded.
